You need to rethread your machine and reset the tension on your serger thread. This would be the thread coming from your spool, not your bobbin. I run into this from time to time, the serger thread gets too tight and does no allow the tension arm to pull back on the slack. This creates those extra loops of thread you're getting. If your thread is not cotton or cotton blend, just cut off the excess and melt the frays with a lighter or candle flame. Just be sure to check that the seam is still strong afterwards.

Thread revive. How's everyone coming along on their projects? I'd love to see some updates on what you guys were working on.

My leashes were a huge success, and my collars just hit. Im working on making padded and un-padded slings in the less common patterns like the new multicams and some krypteks. Ive already made the unpadded adjustable two point in MC Tropic, and just need the cordura, mesh, molle, and padding material for the others then I should be cranking them out.

I want to run binding tape on them and I'm unsure which foot accessory I should be getting for my Singer. What I think I need is the bias tape binding foot, but, as stated, Im unsure. Also, a solid lead on good padding material would be nice.

Eventually, I will get to the point where Im going to make my own split front chest rig with buckles in the front, because I hate the zippered ones.

I might be looking into throwing some new twists on classic designs for pouches and trying to make some things that suit the airsoft community's needs specifically. Im also trying to get raid mods going, experimenting on my own clothing before opening to custom work.

Hey, what sewing machines are you all using? I want to pick up a used machine off craigslist because hand sewing pouches sucks, but I don't know what exactly to look for that will be able to handle thick materials.

The older, the better (within reason, of course). Stay away from store bought machines from today's era. they're garbage. I'm currently working on acquiring a consew industrial machine for a couple grand to do some cool projects with.

I use a Singer 4411, which works great through most fabrics, I have no issue driving through 3 layers of MOLLE webbing. Just make sure that you grab a needle and thread suitable for the fabric you're using

Nope, I didn't make the pouches. The chest rig and belt sleeve I did though. Also have another project I'll be working on once the stuff I ordered gets here

Those are looking pretty sweet, good work, man. I'm going to try to make a chest rig here in a bit. What did you use for the padding on the shoulder straps?

Thanks :)
I actually originally had 1 inch webbing as the strap, then I took cordura material and cut a 5 inch wide strip, sewed it along the edge, turned it right out, folded the ends in and sewed over them, then sewed the webbing onto the tube. I wish I'd done an H harness instead of the X. May still make one. It's not super thick but it works pretty well. I may have put a strip of fleece or something in before I sewed it, don't really remember.

Well I dropped almost 200 last night buying the materials for wallets and padded slings. For the wallets, I'm considering doing it to order, because everyone runs a different load and I'm not positive that one design would fit everyone. I'm going to try to work with what I have right now, which is CB 1000D cordura, and I'll use that to produce my own template with some of the possible features for it. Im waiting on binding tape to come in, but I have the Cb and can make a proof of concept model with no bound edges.

For those of you who have done raid mods, How do you restore the seam to its previous position? My method is to open the upper sleeve so I can sew in 4 directions with the pocket on my machine. The only issue I run into is that I cant get the right angle or dont have the right machine to close that seam back up how it was before. How are y'all doin it?

So, I set up a website, and my sling, leash and collar are up on it. url is latigocustoms.com. I also got some MARPAT 420Dblazeit cordura in today. Not sure what I'm gonna do with it, probably some mag pouches or wallets. Speaking of wallets. I finalized one design for a low profile, minimalist wallet, and I'm working on the design for a more regular sized one, and maybe a tri-fold one for those with lots of cards. I also got the vinyl I needed to make ID slots. I'll throw some pictures of them up when I have them all finalized. Is anyone here still active in their mods and stuff

The website is really nice, better then large retailers like ams. I like how you can put an item in a cart without having to a new page and go back to look at things, also in thinking of getting one of your multicam arid slings.

Awesome man, thanks for the kind words, and I look forward to your business, and if you need anything special done, like a certain type of sling adapter or clip, then pm me

Looking forward to seeing these wallets, I've been looking for one that actually looks nice and isn't crazy expensive. Let me know when you put them up for sale.

So I did a thing to some pants of mine. This is kinda just proof of concept right now. 4 way stretch on M81. Real pleased with how it turned out. I can do these mods for people once I get it. As for the pads, I've never been a huge fan of the crye G2 or G3 pads the plastic just bothers me, so I think I'll make the pad pockets either with proprietary padding system or compatible with the field pads.
