Just to give you a idea, this is the piece I am talking about...

It looks to be no bigger than the Magpul ASAP. Now here it is on the AK...

As you can see it isn't comfortable or plausalbe to use at all. The base of the actual stock is just far enough away where it dosen't hinder perforamnce. When the sling adapter is added, it's a no go.

I guess if there was a way to extend the buffer tube out half an inch or so. I don't know how I could do that stability since that would negate the stable platform the buffer tube mount provides.

Happens to the best of us.

It's a Magpul CTR so it defiantly has a sling adapter in the rear. I just hate having running a one point at the end of a stock. Just feels way too far back to be useful at that point. That might end up being my only alternative though.
No I know what you mean. And the ASAP would go directly where that spacer is so its a no go.

Just make your own one point sling adapter out of para cord. That way it won't be annoying on your hand.
But it's a Magpul Tactical AK. That's like using a duct tape steering wheel for a Ferrari. :p

You're suggesting I actually make the sling mount out of paracord? How would I mount it stably to the base of the buffer tube?

Google it. There's a couple good vids that show you how to make one.

Something like this?

Hopefully I can make it a lot less because I only have so much space..
Yeh. I was actually looking at that exact same one. One or two loops should be fine in your case. The stock will hold it tight against the base of the buffer tube.

Cool well thanks. I will try that out.
Yeah I hope it works. I just thought of another solution if that doesn't work though.

Have you tried flipping the m4 piece upside down?

He can't, he was using it to represent an ASAP mount he was considering buying.

Buy the mount you pictured originally, and make a spacer for the difference. I "accidently" bought a real steal mount for an M-4 and discovered that the opening was too large for the airsoft tube, just like you are experiencing. I solved the issue by making a spacer from an electrical conduit nut.

I ground off the tabs on the outside and the threads on the inside and cut it to fit. I think you'll need either a one inch or a one and a quarter inch diameter nut.

It is just the right thickness and fits over the mounting tube perfectly once the threads are removed.

Hope this helps.

You know, that thought crossed my mind. Just get a sling mount and instead of it extruding downwards, flip it upside down so it goes upward instead. I'll have to play around with that.

Have you thought of getting and inexpensive sling mount and grinding away the bottom?
It's still so close that I would probably be better just trying what the infidel suggested.

Did your M4 have the tabs on the buffer tube mount like shown in the OP? It sounds like you are describing how to fill in the extra circumference needed but I didn't see you mention how I would incorporate that into those tabs.

The airsoft M-4 had the tabs, but the inside of the electrical nut just barely fit around the tabs, which is why I had to grind out the threads. You can see how it fits in the first picture. It provides enough additional material to compensate for the difference and center the RS piece on the neck of the airsoft M-4.

In this next pic, you can see how it fills the space once the outer tabs are ground off. It is a tight fit, but it's better than having it slop around.

Finally, if you look at the bottom of the piece, you can se where I cut a little slot in the nut to align it with the tab in the RS mount. This ensures that it does not move around inside the mount.

I will say this though; the mount aligns with the spacer on the back of the M-4 body and locks into place because of a dip in the spacer and the dip in the mount. Your piece doesn't have this dip, but if you can, I would suggest drilling a small hole in the mount and the gun body and tapping them to receive a set screw that will prevent any slop or spin around the neck.

Again, hope this is helpful.

Wow, okay then. I will have to look into that.

Thanks so much!!!
The only thing I see wrong with it:
-you will still have the problem of it hanging too low.
-it will me no different than just buying the aeg one.

I was recommending that he make a spacer for his sling mount piece, not use an M-16/M-4 sling. I was just explaining how I made the spacer for a RS M-4 sling mount, since his RS mount for his AK has the same problem.

Yup, the sling mount in the OP looks like it should work okay. Thanks again!

Two things nice gun and it is worth it
Mine? For damn sure my friend. From what I can tell, it is basically the EXACT same thing as the Beta Project one for $200 cheaper. Just got to use it for my first time and loved it. I have been putting a review together for the past few weeks, just wanted to play with it first. That will probably go live later sometime this next week on youtube (link below) if you want to check it out.
