PTW's Are They Worth It!?

Now that PTW's have been around for a while alot of forums are buzzing. Are they worth the 2000-8000 $ investment? How have they held up in the Airsoft environment over the years....

The Feedback is mixed but still not positive, with alot of maintenance issues and the high cost of replacement parts and in certain cases labor, are some PTW owners feeling the heat?

Is fielding the Epic rifle of the gods worth it? Does it actually shoot blue arches of lightning!?

Systema's C.E.O has gone on the record saying; The PTW is just that, a PTW and not an Airsoft gun' It is expected to only use about 1000 rounds before being rebuilt. The main aim of the PTW is to provide military users with the ability to train on how to use the weapon, firing, correct method of aiming etc etc. It was not made for the Airsoft/skirmishing market. Our key market is the military and NOT Airsoft.

Love them or hate them, with the money alot of Airsoft players have invested into PTW platforms I'm sure the fallout will be huge!

What Do You Think?

Not on your life,,,as nice looking as they are,,and as true to the RS as they are,,i can think of a lot of other things to spend that kind of wedge on,,,,any way, if you ask me,,it wont be that long til a lot of airsoft makers are building kit to Systema standard,,,,Real Sword for example,,their Type 56 is lovely,,,everything on it made to RS scale (bar the pistol grip),,you can buy this AEG and upgrade it with Systema parts for around a quarter of the value of a PTW,,,and another thing, Systema make PTW's based on the MP5/M16/4/15 (for good reason),,there is more than enough great airsoft replicas of these models on the market,,,,,,,,,,,,,of course im not disrespecting any body who owns one,,these are just my views,,,,you had whant to be mad.

The RS is cheaper

M15A4 CARBINE CHR. BLK. WITHOUT CARRY HANDLE

versus

Systema PTW 2008 Model M4-A1 MAX 2 [sysptwm4] - ÂŁ1,099.99 : Completely Airsoft for all your Skirmishing needs, If you cant see what you want please call or text your enquiry

My vote = HUGE fallout,

My verdict = Serves them right(both Systema and any body living on the streets after buying one),,,it all comes down to this (in my opinion),,even if i am buying a sub $100 doller airsoft replica(and im sure you do the same Mr cornerpedler) i research it,,,,the pros/the cons and the compatition,,,,Systema buyers had to of done the same,,,,,,,,,,they new what they were getting in to,,,,,and for Systema to say that they are not airsoft guns, blaah,,what a load tripe,,,they fire 6mm projectiles at in and around the 1j limit,,,,sounds like an airsoft gun to me,,,,they dont even hav simulated blowback or recoil,,,,,im sorry,,THEY ARE AIRSOFT GUN,s,,,,,,,realy realy realy realy realy realy realy realy expensive one's,,,,again just my take on things.

I've played against one, and got to play around with it.

As awesome as it was as far as fit, feel, and function, I'll stick with my AEG.
I may change my mind when the Magpul CTW hits the states, or if the ACM (All Chinese Made) clones are decent, but that level of realism just isn't worth it to me.

My biggest gripe with them is the proprietary magazines and the limited internal upgrades/parts available. If something on my AEG breaks, I can get the parts from a hand full of local stores within an hour drive, or order from well over a dozen sites and have it within a week.

Plus, for the cost of one base PTW, I could buy and upgrade two AEGs to the max. Not that I really CAN afford to do that right now....

Depedns upon what your doing.

I've got a PTW & most of the guys I play with have too. (Our site probabaly has the largest contingent of PTW's in the UK).

I personnally find my PTW far superior to all of my previous gats (and I've owned a fair few - inc some very custom works).

Its more solid - more reliable & more accurate. It requires no more maintenance than any other AS gun. Would I ever go back to a standard AEG - Nope. It it worth the money? Not ÂŁ1000 but certainally it would be worth ÂŁ800.

As for relability - since I've been using my PTW I've seen many of my friends AEGS come be upgraded & fail several times. In fact we worked out that one guy had spent more than the cost of a ptw upgrading & fixing his gun.

If you like hi-caps & large days of full auto - the PTW aint for you. If you like Milsim Single shot & you like being able to actually aim instead of looking off and watching the BB's then its for you.

And no I'm not voting as you've made any option that says yes make the person voting sound like a tw@t. Which isn't what i'm here for.

So sorry you feel that way, thanks for not voting...

Besides that if you and your group own a large number of PTW's I think you are hiding maintenance issues and costs. From the sounds of over 4 different online forums you are the only PTW group to not experience problems?

I think not, this thread was not created to bash
PTW owners nor give AEG owners a outlet to bash on them.

The vote is anonymos and was intended to have a little humor in the choices to encourage people to vote.

So if you play with a AEG your a high cap noob? More accurate!?, One shot kills?! Starting to sounds like the typical PTW higher then thou complex....

So if sounding like a "Twat" was not your goal sadly you have proven just that..... If you have problems with the new PTW stink about them not being airsoft weapons / 1000rds rebuilds call systema!

Or you could have voted anonymously and posted NON TROLL comments and gone on with your day!

Not quite we did have a problem with a 490 motor on my friends 08 max. However we do have some degree of technical knowledge in our team and do know how to look after them & yes we are quite anal about our maintenance -However thats more cleaning & caring than say your normal AEG.

Doesn't make the voter sound too big headed at all:rolleyes:

Having a PTW doesn't mean your serious about the sport more than the man with a JG 36c.

No the look at what I said:

This issue here is:
a) PTW's dont have any hicaps. One of our team doesn't like mid / low caps & therefore has stuck with his G&P M4 as he can still use hi caps.
b)the Accuracy is consistant - my old G&P was on single shot - one left one right one up one down one in the middle. In fact all my normal AEGS have been - Even they highly tuned ones. My PTW his the same spot EVERY time meaning I can zero my sights and use them effectively. As for watching the white line - When I use the Minimi this is by far the most efficient way of correcting the aim - on single shot on a PTW you dont have enough rounds to do that. Oh and the lack of Hicaps fits nicley within milsim rules.

As for my Troll Commenst - Sorry I dont post here so much - I have a read & then get on with my life - As most people dont have a first hand knowledge of a PTW I thought I would post up my views. Sorry maybe I shouldn't have said what I thought on a forum that allows differing views. As for calling me a tw@t - was that really needed? I'm sorry that at the end of a 17hr shift I didn't get my point across too well - However than you for the lesson I shall keep any valid opinion that I have following 8 years of skermishing & ownership to myself & will never help anyone else on here again.

First off,

the same can be said about the no answer selection.

Hell No, I don't need a PTW to own you!

That does not sound big headed at all eh?

I could never justify spending 2k on a airsoft gun...

What does that mean Im cheap?

It's all perspective and only a small online poll sorry it was not PC enough for you!

Troll....

We don't ask anyone here to help, it's all free and from the heart, hell it's what we do.

You have been a member here since 07 so I think we can do without your 6 posts in 2 years.

In fact you have made more effort in that last post directed towards me then any other during your whole stay here!

Says volumes.

Timmy Asked The Troll;

"Why did you even bother posting in a poll thread you had no intention on participating(boycott) in nor sharing any relevant information in regards to the topic.... your experiences with ptw and maintenance/upkeep....."

The troll replied;

"I'm a troll it's what i do..."

It's funny how he said "this makes you look like a prick" and then followed that up by making himself look like an absolute (apologies for my next use of bad language as there is a thread about this) 'ucking ick!'
And as Cornerpedler said I think we can do without your measely 6 posts thanks. Now shoo you nasty troll, shoo.

Then, children, the Troll said "WHO'S THAT TRIP TROPPIN' OVER MAH BRIDGE?!?!"
And the Big Billy Goat Gruff said, "Its ME FOO! Da Big Billy Goat Gruff and I come to knock yo trash into that there river!!"

And then the Big Billy Goat Gruff reared his head in a classic Rams Defensive line move and knocked the big bad troll into the river. And the Big Billy Goat Gruff pranced to the other side where he lived happily ever after with his bruthas from the South Side.

The end.
