hey fellas,
sorry i haven't been on so much recently , things have been really busy...

i've been working on a project recently: as you know, my entire loadout is woodland but it isn't the best camo for hong kong as here the woodlands are a lot greener, i chose to go with the US woodland simply because it's cheap and easy to find all of the accessories like vests, mag pouches etc. and woodland head to to works better than a tan vest, MARPAT jacket, Multicam pants etc...

eg:

so anyway, i wanted to find something that worked better here in hong kong so i got online and looked around. i came across a few companies that are doing interesting stuff like Hyperstealth but not eay to find and i guess it would be very expensive, especially as i want to do head to foot again so i would need to buy at least an extra jacket to cut up to make glove and boot covers etc.

but reading about how they really push the fact that they use very complicated pattern generators and blah, blah, blah with all of the science and at the end of the day looking at their "in the field" photos, i didn't think they were significantly more effective than traditional camo patterns. so i decided to have a go at making my own patterns that were spacific to the areas i play, anyway, after several designs and improvements i have pretty much completed a whole collection, they still need some tweaking but they are in essance finished...
i decided to put them up here instead of on Stealthstryke as there is more traffic here and i want to get as much feedback as i can so please feel free to critique them but be gentile...

wow nice job r1p those designs look like there going to blend in well, just one question tho how are you going to put those designs on fabric?

#5 ·
my girlfriend works for a fashion desigh company, her job is to source the fabrics and get them to the factories then oversee quality control so every aspect of production can be done through her. the only two problems now are making sure that i'm totally happy with the design i choose and financing it... i have the funds now but i would feel it, i would prefer to budget for it over a couple of months... but i always rather go in baby steps anyway...

Wow, they blend in very nicely. You could actually start selling it. I would buy a jacket and try it out in my area.

That looks awesome. I usually just try wearing pretty dark colors because where I play is pretty open territory, so it doesn't really help if you've got a ton of camo or not. I might try those and see if they work any better than what I've been using.

I like. Couple comments. Arid desert and Temperate desert seems a bit redundant. Could probably get away with just the arid and hide behind the green as opposed to standing in front of it (not sarcastic). Also, I am having trouble envisioning an entire game being played on the side of a mountain. I believe that most of the field would be at the base of the mountain whose terrain would fall into one of the other patterns. Unless you wanna go all Metal Gear Solid and carry extra camo sets with you and change on the fly.

Or he could develop just develop Octo-camo :p

yeah, you're totally right about the Temporate Desert, in fact the only reason i didn't just stick withh the original Temporate Woodland was because when i was looking online at different patterns, i noticed that most of the companies making these so called "next generation" camo designs are just coming up with a basic pattern then inverting them and playing around with the hues to adapt the original pattern to work in other environments, which i thought was a bit of a jip but at the end of the day, the design elements are sound it's just that the contrast and colours don't work. so i had a go myself manipulating the original Temporate Woodland. so i just tried to come up with as many designs as i could but when looking for pictures of desert environments online, i was suprised at how much green shrubberery (is that even a word?!) and other companies usually have at least 2 desert designs

my intent is to only pursue the Temporate Woodland and make that into a fabric, the other designs were just for fun, just to see how they stack up against "next generation" camo designs out there right now so not specificaly to be used for airsoft.

wow! those look great. you need to post pics of the one you choose.

#15 ·
Wow, you never cease to amaze me, great job!

so i just finished crudely applying the Temporate Woodland to a model and then set the model into a temporate woodland environment, this obviously isn't a exact representation of what the pattern will look like but i hope if npt to far off... i do intend to apply the pattern from head to to as i did with my US woodland pattern from boots to mask and weapon...

That's a little freaky, like "Preadator" freaky... lol

Looking good, but I'd darken the hue just a touch. Make it a little more subdued.

#20 ·
Yeah, darker would be better because in the forest floor, it's more likely to get darker shades because of the shadows, and less likely to get the bright green from the sun.

#21 ·
Ogle... Dang bro those designs sure are eye-candy! I'd hafta say if you ever market those, hit me up! lol

Concerning ye old rendering, imma have to jump on the band wagon and agree with the hue darkening :D

thanks for your comments guys, with regard to the hue, i played around with the colour hues to most closely match the colours in the picture, assuming that the colours in the facbtic will also be brightened by the ambient light and i plan to make matching boot covers to as i did with my present US Woodland loadout because the ground in hong kongs woodland is surprisingly green too...

so i have moved on to the next stage of the development: taking the actual design into the jungle. i printed the Temperate Woodland onto a piece of card and took it out the some of the areas we play...

i understand that there is a big difference between blending in a piece of A4 paper printed with the pattern and an actual full loadout but i think i'm getting there...

while i was out taking these photos i came across this little guy. i don't think it's that poisonous but thats not really the point, i'm more concerned about looking down and finding something like this sitting on my shoulder and i give my possition away by screaming like a little girl...
