Real silenceres are illieagal without a spectal liscence. People don't want to get arrested.

Incorrect. You can hunt nuisance annimals (as defined by your state) with a silenced weapon. Such as ferral hogs. Also, they are considered illeagal in my book since without the stamp, you can go to jail for possession of a silencer.

 

I read the regulations for the 2007-2008 season, there are no fire arm restrictions for nusance animals other than legality. So technically, you could have a fully automatic, supressed M4 with a 12inch barrel (3 restricted things right there) as long as you have all the paperwork and have paid all the fees.

 

in hong Kong and similarly in Italy and France to name a few, silencer's are not regulated but guns are, and it IS illegal to suppress the sound or muzzle flash of a firearm, a firearm being a any device that can produce a projectile with a higher muzzle energy than 2 Joules according to hong Kong law. it says nothing about suppressing the sound of anything else ie. an airsoft gun of less than 2 joules. i've checked.

Fake Silencers built for Airsoft guns are just for looks, they do not actually silence a airsoft gun. They are not a real silencer under federal law. I spoke personally to the FHOG makers in Washington State. Airsoft silencers are not illegal for they are not real.
That's what I know.
The FHOG (a real steel flash supressor) unit actually makes an airsoft gun louder.

A real steel silencer goes on the end of the barrel and it suppress the sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier( i think). In airsoft your guns dont go fast enough to break the sounfd barrier.

real steel silencers are most effective on weapons that are sub-sonic ie. slower than the speed of sound.

when a live round is fired, the noise is created by the gun powder exploding in,that sound travels in all directions. as it hits a solid object, it is partially absorbed and deflected by that object, so most of the sound will be bounced arund the internals of the gun as it finds it's way down the barrel. the silencer is designed to trap as much of that sound as possible. but obviously a lot of sound escapes through the body of the gun, in fact a real silencer will only suppress the sound by about 30db, certailnly no where near as much as hollywood movies suggest.

Good place for beginners and advanced players to play. City layout is simple, buildings down one street. Sometimes they will open the woods next to the city for flank routes, odd layout but fun group and staff mix of newer and experienced players, lots of longer engagements and drawn out gun battles. The lower town and Vietnam fields are fun according to a friend, he aside he felt like he was in Vietnam an the town was spot on. I wish this field cleared more land in the city map for more buildings and more flank routes because there are only two main ways to more up or down the street. Overall I always have fun and they mix up the gametypes adding variety

I beg to differ on this one, but not that they make an airsoft gun quieter; in fact quite the opposite. I make fake suppressors for my team's guns. I use PVC pipes and other materials. I made one for a member's M-16 and it actually makes his gun louder, it creates an echo effect that makes it sound like several guns instead of one gun.

Toward the end of the video, you can hear the distinct sound of his M-16.

1. It's a suppressor not a silencer
2. Yes you can, If you have an orange tip on the gun you remove that first and it will expose the threads.
3. Buy suppressor of your choice and enjoy. (14mm CCW threading)

(For help removing the orange tip use the search function, It has been covered dozens of times)

Also for those of you who think suppressors in airsoft don't do anything I would have to agree & disagree. Depending on the material it will change the sound, sometimes making it louder, other times making it more quiet.

This is true, but the biggest advantage of suppressors are that they make it nearly impossible to echo-locate the shot. In other words, the enemy might hear you but they won't know where the shot is coming from. Of course if they physically see it, that's a little different.

This included suppressor parts. A part capable of attaching an empty soda bottle to the muzzle is illegal unless registered as a suppressor.
Suppressors are legal in most states as long as they are registered ($200 tax & approved paperwork). It's legal to hunt in many states using a suppressor. I know there are no hunting restrictions in PA.

 

If you read the entire article, you will see that in order for a "suppressor" to be a suppressor, it must actually suppress the sound of a real firearm. In this instance, the item in question does so, but only after removing it from the paintball gun; therefore, as long as it is attached to the paintball gun, which is not considered a firearm, the item is not considered a suppressor and therefore is not subject to the applicable laws. However, removal of the device and improper use would nullify this decision

In other words, an airsoft barrel extension that looks like, but does not act like a suppressor does not qualify as a suppressor under the law because it does not 1] suppressor or reduce the sound of the airsoft gun, 2] an airsoft gun is not a firearm, and 3] the device could not function to suppress a real firearm as it is not designed as anything more than a tube inside another tube without porting to allow the expansion of gases.

Unless the mock suppressor can accomplish any one of these three tasks, it does not qualify under the law as a true suppressor.
